ABOUT
Black in AI Safety and Ethics (BASE) exists to increase Black representation and leadership in the fields of AI safety, Governance, and Security. Our mission is to build a global community that connects, educates, and empowers Black researchers, professionals, students, and learners to shape the development of safe, equitable, and human-centered AI systems, while preventing the gradual disempowerment of the Black diaspora in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

BASE Research Fellowship (Black in AI Safety and Ethics) is building a global pipeline of Black talent in the fields of AI alignment, governance, and security. Our goal is to ensure Black people across the globe are empowered to shape and contribute to the development of safe, equitable, and human-centered AI systems.
We’re seeking experienced professionals across technical AI safety, infosec, and governance who can help streamline fellow development through research mentorship

BASE FELLOWSHIP
Spring 2026 CALL FOR FELLOWS
The BASE Fellowship is a 12-week, part-time remote program that begins with four weeks of immersive training, followed by eight weeks of mentored project work advancing AI safety, governance, and security.
